In Loving Memory
Beloved Son · Free Spirit · Light of This World
Mars was not just my son. He was my only child, my greatest blessing, my brightest light, and the heartbeat of my world.
From the moment he was born, I remember looking into his tiny face and crying tears I couldn't control. I was overwhelmed by a love so deep and powerful that it took my breath away. In that moment, I knew my life had changed forever. Mars was the most precious gift I had ever received.
As he grew, he filled every room with his energy, laughter, creativity, and determination. He was a dreamer, a free spirit, and someone who lived life boldly. His smile could brighten the darkest day, and his presence was a gift to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
"For a long time, it has felt as though I am trapped in a nightmare that never ends—waiting for the moment I will wake up and discover none of this is real."
A Mother's Words
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal."
— Richard Puz
Some days the grief feels like an ocean. Other days it's a quiet whisper that finds me when I least expect it. But even in its heaviest moments, it reminds me of how deeply my son was loved—and how deeply he loved in return.
Everyone who met Mars remembers something different about him—his laugh, his ambition, the way he made you feel like the most important person in the room. But to me, he was simply my son, my best friend, and the reason I understood what unconditional love truly meant.
He had big dreams for his future—a career he was proud of, places he wanted to see, a life he was building brick by brick. Every conversation we had was filled with plans, possibilities, and the kind of hope that only a mother watching her child come into his own can fully understand.
Losing him didn't just take away his future. It took away the version of my own future I had imagined alongside him. And yet, in the middle of that loss, I found a new purpose—one built entirely from the love he gave me.
Then came July 18, 2023.
A day that began like any other day.
That afternoon, I received a phone call from the police department—a phone call no parent should ever have to receive.
The officer informed me that my son had been involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Emergency responders had rushed him to the hospital, but despite every effort to save him, he had succumbed to his injuries.
In that moment, everything stopped.
I could hear the officer speaking, but her words felt distant, as though I had been pulled into a reality I couldn't comprehend. My body went numb. The ground beneath me seemed to disappear.
How could this be happening?
How could my son—the young man who was living his dreams, building his future, and embracing life with passion and purpose—be gone?
One year I was celebrating his college graduation.
The next, I was planning his funeral.
The loss of Mars shattered my world. The silence he left behind was deafening. The future I imagined disappeared in an instant. No parent is prepared for that kind of pain.
But I also knew something else.
I could not allow his story to end with tragedy.
I could not allow his legacy to fade.
I had to honor him.
That decision became the foundation of the Message From MARS Foundation.
As Mars Mom, I have chosen to turn unimaginable grief into purpose. Through education, advocacy, awareness, and community engagement, I share Mars' story in hopes of preventing another family from experiencing the pain that mine endures every day.
Saving Lives
This movement is about more than my loss. It is about saving lives.
Conversations That Matter
It is about creating conversations that matter.
One Decision
It is about reminding drivers and riders that one decision, one distraction, or one moment can change lives forever.
Today, I continue to show up not only as a mother who misses her son every single day, but as an advocate for road safety, a voice for awareness, and a source of support for others navigating loss.
My voice carries the message.
My story carries the mission.
And Mars' legacy carries this movement forward.
Every mile is a message.

Twelve Days After His 25th Birthday
On that evening, Mars was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident while on his way home from work on a Georgia highway. He passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void — and sparking a movement dedicated to the road safety awareness he truly deserved.
His Legacy
Grief this deep is only possible because love this deep existed first. Mars is not gone — he lives in every sunrise watched through tear-filled eyes, in every dream where his smile returns.
He lives in the sacred, unbreakable bond between a mother and her son that no accident, no absence, and no passage of time can ever dissolve.
"Those we love don't go away — they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, still very dear."
Honoring lives lout to motorcycle accidents and working to protect the lives of those who ride and drive.
